Camping in Triund Hill

There are many travel agencies that organize the triund trekking and charge between 1500 and 2500 INR. But you can do all by yourself, because the triund is 2378 meters high and in the top they have all the structure to rent camping tents and sell food.

We left after lunch and payed 350 INR with a taxi until the Gallu Devi Temple. The normal price for this route is 400, but we asked discount. With the tuktuk is 300, but he can take only 3 people and we were 4. I went with a german guy that I met in Mumbai, Klaus, a german girl that I met in Dehli, Nanc and one english girl that I met in Mcleod Ganj, Jane.

We reached the temple by 3:30pm were we start the hiking. There are two main stops before reaching the triund. The first one is Magic View after 1 hour walk.

The second stop is a little shop to buy water and food 1 hour after, nearby areas were we first stepped in snow. Around 6pm we were in triund. The view is incredible and there are plenty of camping tents.

We walked around to see the area and got our 4 people tent in one of the shops for 1000 INR, around 15 USD to rent per night.

They built the tent in the place we selected, meanwhile we interacted with the mountain goats.

Their business had everything including a menu with rice, chapatti, pancakes, omelette and many other things. The only product not allowed to sell in the mountain was alcoholic beverages, but you could bring your own.

After a great sunset we went to the fireplace because the temperature decreased consistently. I grilled a few marshmallows that I had with me.20150507_200328

For dinner I had a chapatti with cheese for 40 INR and a nutella chapatti for 60 INR. After that we went straight to sleep because we were super tired.

We woke up by 6 AM to wait for the sunrise that happened by 7 AM. Again we had the funny view of goats everywhere.
