First day in Petra Treasure

Elected one of the seven wonders of the modern world, Petra in Jordan is a truly incredible place. We arrived in the town of Wadi Musa at lunchtime and went to visit Petra, an important archaeological enclave of the country. The entry for one day costs 50 Jordanian dinars and for two days 55. The currency is stronger than the euro, meaning this tour costs more than 60 euros, but I can say that it is very worthwhile.

On the first day, we entered the park and did a horseback ride. It cost us 6 Jordan dinars to walk about 10 minutes. We passed the canyons (As-Siq) and we could also see all kinds of transportation including donkeys, buggies and camels.

We visited the main tourist spot within Petra which is the Treasury (Al-Khazneh). In this location was filmed the Last Crusade of Indiana Jones in 1989. On the way we met a group of Bedouins with whom we talked for a while.

They were really cool guys and they saw that we were backpackers, so they did not even offer the shuttle service. They commented on cavesurfing, sometimes lodging travelers in the caves where they lived. And they told us a little bit about his life on the spot. A very interesting cultural exchange. Then they said they had to go back to work and offer transportation to tourists.

We climbed Urn Tomb to have a lookout on Petra and on the way back we crossed the theater.
