Exploring Sossusvlei, the desert of Namibia

After admiring the sunrise in the top of dune 45, around 7AM we went down to explore Sossusvlei, the famous desert with white sand, orange dunes and dry trees.

With the car we rented we drove 15 quilometres to reach a place where you can get a transfer, drive a 4×4 or walk into the desert. I met an Australian with a massive camera which I asked to try.

It’s important to know that only 4 wheel drive cars are allowed in the next 5 quilometres, considering the high amount of sand and risk of car jam. The transfer is a tractor.

Considering that we had a rented non 4×4 car we chose to save 5 dollars and walk.

By 9 AM we reached the transfer final stop where no more cars can go further. At this point everybody walks to the Sossusvlei. People were saying that it was a one hour walk, but we reached the destination in only 20 minutes. The place is just incredible.

I was traveling with Tatsuya a Japanese guy and Maud a french girl and we took a picture together.

After a few minutes of admiring we went back to the parking. We decided to take the transfer back because we were very tired.

With no doubt the most beautiful desert I had been so far.
