To reach the the island of Caye Calker you must take a two hour ferry from the maritime terminal in the capital  Belize city.

Beside the island you have one of the biggest barrier reefs in the world with 3 snorkeling spots: Hol Chan Channel, Shark Ray Alley e Coral Garden.

The tour cost about 15 USD and incude equipment, boat  ride and food. We started early in the morning fitted our fins and masks and got to a small boat into the ocean. After half an hour our first stop to do snorkeling. Shallow waters, a few corals and not that much maritime life.

Our second stop a surprise, tons of stingrays swimming around the boat. It is indeed a bit scary in the beginning because those fishes can easily kill a human with the sting. The guide asked us no to touch or disturb any of the and it would be fine. In this spot we also saw our first nurse-shark.

We entered the water a bit apreehensive but got used to them after a while. A guide from other boat made some demonstrations holding sharks and stingrays.

After this unique experience we headed back to the boat and ate a buffet of fruits.
