The best falafel and hummus from Palestine

Established in 1948 and considered the restaurant with the best falafel and hummus from Palestine, Afteem is a great lunch-break to experience local food after visiting the Nativity ChurchIt is recommended by trip advisor and lonely planet. The decoration is pretty interesting and sound more like a museum than a restaurant.

The falafel is a seasoned chickpea cake and the hummus is a chickpea paste. You can see them preparing  outside of the restaurant. The waiter asked us our origin and after we told him we were Brazilians he gave us the hint of the best dish, the falafel sandwich. We ordered the falafel sandwich and a side dish of hummus. Each sandwich was 5 sheckels, about 1 euro. The extra humus was also 5.

For drinks we ordered a coke and the only Palestinian beer brand, Taybe H Beer, very good indeed.

The bill: 55 shekels calculated in a very traditional way.
