Advanced open water course in Zanzibar

If you have an open water but want to increase your diving skills and go even deeper in your future dive it is time to upgrade you license. I choose to make my course in a diving center in Zanzibar, Tanzania called Buccaneer. The reason wasn’t price and if you are looking for a great deal, destinations such as Thailand and Honduras are going to offer you better options. I was living in Paje and the diving team was great so I decided to pay 500 USD for the entire course (5 dives / 3 days) and become and Advanced Open Water diver allowing me to reach up to 30 meters deep in my next dives.

First day

For the first day I had the fish identification and the drift dive. The boat was full, 2 American girls, 2 Belgians, one Canadian and a danish girl. I took the note plate and identified over 30 species of fish underwater, from trumpet fish to butterfly fish.

I also saw a horse fish and a stingray.

In the second dive I hold the buoy to indicate the boat our location, so he could find us in the end of the drift dive

Second Day

The second day included navigation dive and underwater photography. Only the danish girl and the Canadian were in the boat, both doing an open water course. I used a compass to do some location exercises and took over 300 pictures with my Go pro Hero. Clown fishes were all over the place.

Third day

The last day before my final theoretical test I went to the deep dive and earned a fun dive from the school. With me in the boat a couple of americans and Israelis. I did not brought the camera in this dive, but reached the deep of 32 meters and saw a turtle! I filmed my American diving partner that lives in Mongolia with his wife.
